The Ettina Bujha Trek, also known as the Shishila Gudda Trek, is one of the most adventurous and scenic treks in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. Located near Dharmasthala in Chikmagalur district, this trek is a hidden gem for those seeking raw wilderness, panoramic views, and thrilling trails. The name Ettina Bujha means “Ox’s Shoulder”, and the peak truly resembles the hump of an ox. Rising to an altitude of about 1,300 meters (4,265 ft), Ettina Bujha offers a unique trekking experience through dense forests, rolling grasslands, rocky climbs, and narrow ridge walks that lead to its iconic summit. From the Summit Enjoy breathtaking 360° views of the Charmadi Ghats, Shishila Valley, Kurinjal, and Ballarayanadurga ranges. Itinerary
Journey to Ettina Bhuja Base Camp
- •Pickup starts from designated points in Bangalore
- •Begin overnight journey to Sakleshpur in a comfortable TT/minibus
Day 1: Trek to Ettina Bhuja Peak
- •Reach the homestay, freshen up, and have breakfast.
- •Pack your small day backpack with essentials & packed lunch, then head towards the trek starting point.
- •Complete the permit formalities at the forest office and begin the trek through dense shola forests, streams, and rolling grasslands
- •Reach the summit of Ettina Bhuja Peak, From the summit, enjoy breathtaking 360° views of the Charmadi Ghats, Shishila Valley, and the majestic Ballarayanadurga ranges.
- •Enjoy your packed lunch at the summit and descend back to the base by evening
- •Enjoy evening snacks, group activities, campfire, and dinner. Overnight stay at the homestay.
Day 2: Return Journey with Sightseeing
- •06:30 AM: Wake up, freshen up, and enjoy breakfast.
- •08:00 AM: Check-out from the homestay.
- •Visit Bettada Bhairaveshwara Temple, Kadumane Tea Estate, Majahalli Falls and Manjarabad Fort en route.
- •Stop for a self-sponsored lunch on the way back.
- •Around 10:30 PM, reach Bangalore with unforgettable memories of the Ettina Bhuja Trek.

Participant Cancellation Policy
- 100% Refund: Cancellations 30+ days before departure (excluding convenience/transaction fees).
- 50% Refund: Cancellations 15-29 days before departure.
- No Refund, Future Credit, or Transfer: Cancellations 14 days or less before departure.
goChaarana Cancellation Policy
- If goChaarana cancels a trek due to weather, safety concerns, or unforeseen circumstances, participants will receive a 100% refund or the option to reschedule to another trek of their choice.
Rescheduling Option
- You can reschedule your booking to a future trek without any additional cost, subject to availability. This option is available if you request the change at least three days before your original trek date.
Important Notes
- Refunds will be processed within 7–10 working days.
- Trek fees are non-transferable to another participant.
- No refund will be provided for a no-show or dropping out mid-trek.
