This monsoon, I finally made it happen with <strong>goChaarana<\/strong>, and it turned out to be an unforgettable adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 1 \u2013 The Journey Begins (Bengaluru to Megur)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>Friday, 13th June 2025<\/strong>, I boarded the <strong>goChaarana Tempo Traveller from Indiranagar, Bengaluru<\/strong>. As always, the journey started with a fun <strong>ice-breaking session<\/strong>\u2014introductions, laughter, and stories that slowly turned strangers into travel companions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By <strong>3:30 AM<\/strong>, we reached <strong>Megur Homestay<\/strong>, located about <strong>25 km from Kottigehara<\/strong> and <strong>7 km from Sunkasale<\/strong>. Nestled in the middle of a <strong>tea estate at the foothills of the Western Ghats<\/strong>, the homestay felt calm, misty, and refreshing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I caught a short nap until <strong>6:30 AM<\/strong>, waking up to foggy hills and the soothing silence of nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Morning at the Homestay &amp; Trek Preparation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our group consisted of <strong>12 trekkers<\/strong>, all equally excited for the day ahead. By <strong>7:30 AM<\/strong>, we were fresh, packed, and ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Breakfast was simple and comforting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Idli<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rice bath<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After collecting our <strong>packed lunch<\/strong>, we hopped into a jeep and headed toward the <strong>Bandaje Forest Checkpost<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trek permits are mandatory and must be booked online\u2014but thanks to <strong>Team goChaarana<\/strong>, everything was already arranged. We just had to show our <strong>government ID<\/strong> to the forest officers before entering the trail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Into the Rain &amp; Wilderness\u2014The Trek Begins<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our first stop was <strong>Rani Jhari Viewpoint<\/strong>. The weather was rough\u2014continuous rain\u2014but that\u2019s what made the day special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Around <strong>9:00 AM<\/strong>, we began our trek.<br>The <strong>7 km trail (one way)<\/strong> started as a muddy forest road. After about <strong>300 meters<\/strong>, we took a <strong>right turn<\/strong>, leading us into a dense forest path surrounded by tall, lush green trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Soon, we reached a <strong>trail divider<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Left<\/strong> \u2192 Ballalarayana Durga Fort<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Right<\/strong> \u2192 Bandaje Waterfalls<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We chose the <strong>Bandaje Falls route<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the mist blocking long-distance views, the trail itself was stunning\u2014green carpets of grass, flowing streams, rain-soaked trees, and the pure joy of trekking in monsoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reaching Bandaje Waterfalls<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Around <strong>1:00 PM<\/strong>, we finally reached <strong>Bandaje Waterfalls<\/strong>\u2014soaked, tired, and extremely happy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sitting there, eating our <strong>packed lunch in the rain<\/strong>, with the thunderous sound of water crashing down, felt surreal. We spent some time clicking photos and videos, fully absorbing the moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Descent &amp; Lion Roar Viewpoint<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The descent was tougher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heavy rain and strong winds turned the trail into a <strong>slippery, flowing stream<\/strong>. Every step demanded focus. On the way back, we stopped at <strong>Lion Roar Viewpoint<\/strong>, and this time, the weather surprised us\u2014in a good way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The clouds briefly cleared, revealing a <strong>breathtaking panoramic view of the valley below<\/strong>. It was absolutely worth the wait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By <strong>6:00 PM<\/strong>, we reached back to the homestay\u2014exhausted, muddy, but extremely satisfied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Campfire, Games &amp; Music Under the Stars<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The evening turned magical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We gathered around a <strong>campfire<\/strong>, played <strong>Mafia and <\/strong>Uno, and laughed endlessly. After dinner, the fun continued with <strong>Dumb Charades and singing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of our trekkers, <strong>Medini<\/strong>, a professional singer, filled the night with soulful music. Soon, everyone joined in\u2014it felt like a <strong>mini mountain concert<\/strong> in the middle of the Western Ghats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We finally called it a night at <strong>2:30 AM<\/strong>, tired but content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 2 \u2013 Unexpected Adventure &amp; Temple Calm<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>Sunday morning<\/strong>, we were ready by <strong>9:00 AM<\/strong> and planned to visit <strong>Kodige Waterfall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the mountains had other plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our <strong>Tempo Traveller got stuck in deep slush<\/strong>, and what followed was an <strong>unexpected 3-hour adventure<\/strong>. Six of us jumped in\u2014pushing, pulling, slipping, laughing, and working together until the vehicle was finally free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unplanned, muddy, exhausting\u2014but incredibly fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Belur Temple &amp; Journey Back Home<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After things settled, we headed toward the historic <strong>Belur Temple<\/strong>. Having visited it earlier, I spent time walking around, admiring the architecture, and waiting for the others to finish their exploration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By around <strong>12:00 AM<\/strong>, we finally reached <strong>Bengaluru<\/strong>\u2014tired, muddy, and glowing with memories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Final Thoughts\u2014More Than Just a Trek<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Bandaje Waterfalls &amp; Ballalarayana Durga trek in monsoon<\/strong> is not just a trek\u2014it\u2019s an emotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rain adds wild beauty, the trails test your endurance, and the people you trek with turn every challenge into a story worth remembering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With <strong>goChaarana<\/strong>, every detail\u2014from permits to safety to vibes\u2014was handled seamlessly. What could have been a tough monsoon trek became one of the <strong>most memorable adventures<\/strong> of my life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Western Ghats in the monsoon feel like pure magic. Lush green hills covered in mist, the sound of waterfalls all around, and forest trails that wake up all your senses\u2014trekking in the rain is truly special. The Bandaje Falls trek had been on my bucket list for years.
