My First Sunrise Trek: The Uttari Betta Night Trek Experience with goChaarana
On January 10, 2026 by adminMoving to a new city after college comes with mixed emotions—excitement, freedom, and a strong urge to explore. My name is Deepak, and I work at Juspay. I recently moved to Bangalore, and with a free weekend ahead, I decided it was the perfect time to try something new.
I had always wanted to go trekking, but this was going to be my first sunrise trek and my first trek in a new city. I wanted a reliable organizer, a small group, and a safe experience—especially since I was going solo.
That’s when I came across goChaarana.
This is the story of how I discovered goChaarana and decided to choose Uttari Betta.
While searching for treks near Bangalore, I found plenty of options and organizers. I explored websites, Instagram pages, and reviews. goChaarana caught my attention because their content felt genuine and experience-driven.
I gave them a call, and they told me about an Uttari Betta Night Trek happening that weekend. I was slightly unsure at first since they weren’t extremely popular yet—but something about their communication felt honest and reassuring.
I decided to book it.
Looking back, it turned out to be one of the best sunrise trek experiences of my life.
In this blog, I’m sharing my first sunrise trek experience with goChaarana, along with everything you need to know to plan your own Uttari Betta Night Trek.
Why Uttari Betta Was Perfect for My First Sunrise Trek
I chose Uttari Betta because it is:
- Beginner-friendly
- Safe and well-marked
- Close to Bangalore
The trail has a beautiful mix of:
- Rocky paths
- Muddy sections
- Open grasslands
- Massive boulders
The climb is exciting but not exhausting—perfect for first-timers.
What excited me the most was trekking through ancient stone gateways, fort ruins, and historic structures at night. Reaching the summit just as the sky turned golden felt surreal. Uttari Betta is famous for its sunrise views, and experiencing it firsthand was magical.
Pickup & Travel Experience
We received all trek details in a WhatsApp group 24 hours before departure, which made everything very clear.
I stay in Koramangala, and my pickup point was Silk Board.
- Departure Time: 11:50 PM
- After a short wait, we boarded the vehicle and started our journey
There were 13 members, including the trek lead, making it a comfortable and close-knit group.
Near Kunigal, we stopped for a tea and washroom break (important note: there are no washrooms at the base camp). During this break, we had an ice-breaking session, played a few games, and got to know each other better.
We resumed the journey around 2:45 AM.
Reaching the Base Village
At around 3:10 AM, we reached Hutridurga village, the base for the Uttari Betta trek.
After a short briefing and warm-up session, we switched on our torches. Under a sky full of stars, we began our night trek.
The Night Trek Experience
Hutridurga Village to Sankareswara Temple
Distance: 1 km
Duration: 1–1.5 hours
The trek begins with ancient stone gateways. Walking through four massive stone doorways felt like stepping back in time. The trail includes curved stone steps and a few steep sections—tiring at moments, but incredibly rewarding.
Sankareswara Temple to Sunrise Viewpoint
Distance: 1.5 km
Duration: 1 hour
After the temple, the actual trail begins. There are a few diversions, so having a trek lead was extremely helpful.
We crossed:
- Rocky stretches
- Muddy patches
- Cave-like passages
- Huge boulders
At around 5:45 AM, we reached the sunrise viewpoint. It was cold, silent, and unbelievably beautiful. The sky slowly changed colors—from deep blue to orange and pink—while mist floated over the hills.
We spent time clicking photos, shooting reels, and simply enjoying the moment.
By 7:45 AM, we began our descent.
Highlights Along the Trek
Sankareswara Temple & Nandi Idol
A peaceful ancient temple with a stone Nandi idol that adds a spiritual touch.
Dodda Done (Natural Spring)
A historically significant natural water source along the trail.

Stone gateways, fort walls, steps, and ruins that tell stories of the past.
Anjaneya Temple
A small Hanuman temple at higher sections—perfect for a short rest.
